All along, the Shapers had been harnessing the creative energy of human beings; Consuming it. In Cosecha Verde, they placed humans in tanks, keeping them mentally-active but physically subdued, to ensure that their human subjects continued to produce the the creative thought necessary for the Shapers to thrive.
